I couldn't help thinking about the Gisèle Pelicot case as I was reading your article because it's exposed how deeply entrenched male control over women's bodies remains, even in supposedly progressive societies. On Tuesday I wrote (on Substack) about this as well as how women in the US had the opportunity to take their rightful place as equal framers of the direction of the United States.

I'm finding all of this incredibly hard to process what this means for women and girls. And I'm not American.

Any time we fall into or choose a “traditional” gender role our bodies are being used. I feel particularly so. It’s disgusting I am not making 6 figures and a manager, but then again I think it would be even more disgusting for my husband who can’t cook and won’t cook a frozen dinner from a bag on the stove without a gold star having a pregnancy full term - and a child - twice. It’s a hard call. We are who we are. I would hope in the future generations men can start to heal from within and stop acting like everything a woman does is a given meanwhile we are treated as if “that’s all you can give!?” And have given relentlessly and endlessly.

The Democrats helped seat Alito and Thomas. The Democrats also had 50 fucking years to codify Roe and chose not to. The Democrats also campaigned for pro forced birth Democrats and they embraced the racist, pro forced birth, anti voting rights Liz Cheney🤮 The Democrats have held power for 26 of the last 32 years. Stop blaming everything on Trump and the GOP. The Democrats are complicit.

I'm blaming men, not the Republicans

Thank you for not shutting down this poster. I was shut out of liberating motherhood for crushing the author’s massively failed logic - much to the happiness of other readers who thumbs upped… she blocked me. I believe women who are strong enough to hold space for other women’s views are the true liberators. Thank you for being you and letting all our voices be heard!!

Women voted for Trump too. Harris is fine with mass murder. Not everything is men's fault. Women can be just as abusive and shitty towards other women and men.

This is also true. They need to stop acting like everything is “just so tough” meanwhile they buy 1-65 additional properties and more, profiting off everyone paying them rent.

I am a man. I am appalled that the woman lost yesterday but won't dwell in recrimination and finger pointing because they are nothing more than a useless luxury. Canada, where I live, was once the terminus of the "underground railway"; a safe refuge for escaped slaves. Perhaps it can be a terminus for women who want to live somewhere ( or simply obtain a legal abortion) that doesn't try to take control of their wombs.

You are creepy. Women have control of their wombs all day and night especially without the likes of weirdos like you. If any woman moves to Canada from the United States it’s a total downgrade. Yuck. We will will accomplish what we need to here without sending minorities to your country that lacks morals and values entirely.

You are the creep. Your country will become a shithole country/banana Republic under trump and you will know you helped it happen.

Dude, it's always been a shithole country. And Canada is a British colonial settlement too. Also birthed by a genocide. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones🙄

Canada has faced up to its colonial past. The US hasn't.

No it hasn't🤣 The genocide of your indigenous people is still ongoing.

You are obviously ignorant on the topic and unworthy to discuss it.
